Head Coach

Coaching responsibilities: 

  • Develop multiple 12 week developmental swim programs for at least two different age groups / swim competencies.
  • Train basic competencies for competitive swimming, such as racing starts, turns and finishes.
  • Ensure a safe swimming environment for all Winter Swim program participants.
  • Demonstrate leadership and promote good swimmer etiquettes such as sportsmanship, lane courtesy, etc.
  • Encourage all swimmers during practice and offer developmental feedback to swimmers as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all swimmers and coaching staff are treated with respect and fairness.
  • With help of junior staff members, run sessions at least 3 nights a week, 1 hour each.
  • Mentor junior staff members in coaching techniques.

Administrative responsibilities:

  • Submit new employee and tax paperwork 3 weeks prior to starting the Winter Swim session.
  • Responsible for submitting all coaches' timesheets to Mrs. Stettner and the Winter Swim. Chairperson no later than 9:00 PM, last day of each month.
  • Submit an end of program evaluation on each team coaching staff member to the Winter Swim chairperson.
  • Manage team coaches’ work assignment and ensure coverage for absent coaches.
  • Coordinate with Winter Swim Chairperson.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the Winter Swim season.
  • Must be available for the entire Winter Swim program which begins on the 2nd week of September and continues thru the last week of May.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Hold current certifications for Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED and WSI.

 

Assistant Head Coach

Coaching responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach in developing the swim programs for at least two different age groups / swim competencies.
  • Assist the head coach in running activities in each class.
  • Run the class in absence of the head coach.
  • Train basic competencies for competitive swimming, such as racing starts, turns and finishes.
  • Ensure a safe swimming environment for all Winter Swim program participants.
  • Demonstrate leadership and promote good swimmer etiquettes such as sportsmanship, lane courtesy, etc.
  • Encourage all swimmers during practice and offer developmental feedback to swimmers as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all swimmers and coaching staff are treated with respect and fairness.
  • Mentor junior staff members in coaching techniques.
  • Notify the head coach and personnel chairperson immediately by e-mail if you are going to be late or unable to attend practice for whatever reason.
